The Engine Compartment

Since the engine looks so pretty I need to make the engine compartment pretty now.

Where does it all stop.

Nice !

I need to find a place to park this thing.

What people have something like this in their back yard.

A testimonial to Jeanne's close to unlimited patience.

The "before" pictures

Many years of rust !

Oh dear !

Just a couple more.
The Prep

Remove all the crap from the firewall.

A whole lot of sanding and prep

I sanded and painted the "Battery Box" with black undercoating (very thick rubberized paint.) Then masked the area.

Primer

Looks good so far. I'll give some more sanding and another coat of primer.

Wow I haven't worked on my car since I started my house remodel February 2013. It's now July 15th 2015. (Two and a half years later.)

In this time I never painter over the primer so moisture took it's toll once more.

New Rust.

How disappointing

I need to keep these sorted.

I hope this helps

So far I had decided that my beautiful new engine can't go into the engine compartment I sanded and primed but too many years went by and it rusted again.

I went for help at a local place called Primo Power Coating. I took the car there and had it sand blasted and a great primer coat put on.

It's still January 2020 and I havent even heard of Covid-19 yet.

Stopped to pose in the drivers seat.

My friend Paul took me there on his beautiful trailer.

This is what it looked like when I got it back.

This is what it is like now that I painted it black.

A little body work to keep the rust down.

And sand some more. Jesus how many times has this car been painted. Answer: 3
